A black, orb-shaped topper sits atop a hexagon-shaped pedestal base and the whole body of this fountain has a lacquer/granite-like finish. In good sunlight, the pump is powered by solar energy while the battery pack collects and stores a charge. When it grows dark, the battery automatically activates to run the fountain, which it can do up to four hours when fully charged. When the batteries are depleted, the system automatically tries to draw power from the panel, and resumes running once the sun returns. If there is a special occasion where the battery pack needs to be fully charged so the fountain can operate on demand, simply turn the whole unit off, to allow the battery to charge more quickly (as no power will be used to run the pump/lights).
