The Lilac Time Dahlias are tender perennial plants from the daisy family that are really easy to grow with spectacular results. These colorful spiky flowers generally bloom from midsummer to first frost, when many other plants are past their best. Their flowers range widely in size, color, shape and number of petals., from the giant 10-inch dinner plate blooms to the 2-inch lollipop-style pompoms. Most varieties grow 4 to 5 feet tall. Lilac Time may require support, by inserting a stake or flower support. Though not well suited to extremely hot and humid climates, dahlias brighten up any sunny garden with a growing season thats at least 120 days long. Dahlias thrive in cool, moist climates where blooms may be an inch larger and deeper.
